Super Beetle Rallye Infographic Design organic cotton T-shirt, white.

In 1951 Gerhard Oettinger first offered performance-enhancing carburetor systems for the Volkswagen under the company name “OKRASA” and in 1958 Theo Decker started tuning Beetle engines. In the 1970s, various tuners for the Beetle also offered adapted VW Porsche 914 engines and tuned Beetles are still popular.

The car featured here has a 1971 Type 1 engine with a 90,5mm Mahle P&L set, combined with a 78,4mm crank, a 324° Schleicher cam, 40mm/35,5mm Type 1 Kummetat heads, and a compression ratio of around 10:1. On top is a Weber 44 IDF setup with a JKM-linkage, a TSZ-H ignition. A speciality from Kummetat is the oil cooler (670mm AKG) setup in front of the Kamei spoiler, with the hoses routed through.
