Solido’s description – ‘The Beetle Sport is a variant designed to rejuvenate the clientele of the Beetle, which in 1974 was already celebrating 36 years of existence. Depending on the options, it had a specific presentation and equipment: an Indy steering wheel, race bucket seats, full-size carpet and rear window defogger. It was also possible to provide short staves, as well as a high-end stereo radio. The engine did not change, the Volkswagen 1600 air-cooled engine remaining in place, with its characteristic and inimitable purr. This version would delight the Californian youth and 20,000 copies of this series would be sold in the United States.’
